New York Trip

The Pasta kids headed to Amsterdam this past weekend to celebrate Great Aunt Izia's 80th birthday!! Mom and dad drove up earlier in the week.

The trip started on a very early flight to Baltimore on Saturday.About 1/2 way through the trip we ran into horrible turbulence. I held on for dear life and said about 100 prayers. Barb and I wished we were like Sean and oblivious to the fact that we were about to die. Sean just looked at the safety card and planned our escape from the plane.
The second flight from Baltimore to Albany was not as horrible, but pretty bad. Joe who was sitting across from us on both flights liked to play lets see "how scared does Joanne looks now"
after each jolt. It was a good thing I was sitting next to Barb because with every bump we would run into each other.

The visit to Amsterdam was a lot of fun. On Saturday night we had birthday cake and Sean helped Izia blow out her candles.
On Sunday we went to a craft fair in a very pretty area. Here is a picture of dad taking a picture of Dave taking a picture of the covered bridge.
There were also fun things to climb on.Cool light fixture in Izia's house.
Our quick trip ended on Monday. It was another flight back to Baltimore. We knew we were in trouble when before we leave the gate the flight attendant said that because we were going to be in turbulence there would be no drink service. Really?!? Not again! It wasn't real scary, just very shaky. I was trying to do a Suduko puzzle and I could barely write anything. There were a few lines that ran off the page when we hit bigger bumps.
On to the fourth and final flight of the weekend. Surely we would not have bad luck four flights in a row! Haha. The majority of the flight was great. In the last hour of the flight the flight attendants came on and said they were going to pick up trash now because we were about to hit turbulence and the captain asked them to be seated for the rest of the flight. Not again!! The plane dropped and people screamed in the back (no it wasn't me) and one flight attendant had to run back to her seat. This lasted at least a 1/2 hour. I finally got brave enough to open my eyes and looked out the window just in time to see lighting strike. Yikes! Luckily we landed without any problems. I've always hated flying and now I hate it even more!
More photos when I get a hold of dad's camera.

Scenes From Our Yard

I was stalking a butterfly in the front yard when I saw this squirrel holding on to a pecan in its soft green outer shell. I've seen our two resident squirrels with a couple of these over the past few of days. Hurricane Ike (happy anniversary!) knocked out all of our pecans last year. The tree must still be stressed because there are only one or two of these that you can see in the tree. Normally there are hundreds. The squirrels must know that this is all they are going to get this year. I don't think they usually go after pecans in this state.

Pretty backyard flower.

My Nephew is Cuter Than Your Nephew!

Sean spent that night last week. Sean and I snuggled together and watched Project Runway. On the episode they are making maternity dresses for Rebecca Romijn. Sean perked up when he heard "Rebecca." Through the whole episode he kept asking when Rebecca was going to show up. Sean was really look for the Rebecca also known as Squiggles! (Inside joke for those on the Florida trip.)

Like I said they were making maternity clothes. One designer was making a red carpet type gown. He looked around and said, "Those clothes are so plain, they could sell them at Pea in the Pod." You know, the maternity store. Sean turns to me and says, "I pee in the pot, I'm a big boy." =)

The other funny thing he said was right before he went to sleep, he said,"Fish don't poop."

My nephew is not only cuter than your nephew, he's funnier!!!!
