Work Fun!

Last week most of our department went to the Astro's game.

Me and AmberMy crazy boss ConnieThe only person missing was our video guy Mel. He is busy with his outside job making horror movies. The next day we went and saw him at work and were extras in his movie. We played pizza eaters. We had to sit and pretend to talk to each other without really speaking and slowly eat a piece of pizza. It lasted two hours and they only filmed about 5 minutes of the movie. It was interesting to see the process, but would not want to do that for a living. Since it is a horror movie and I don't watch horror movies, this will be the only part of the movie I will see. =)
So, look for the back of my head in a movie theater near you in about a year or two. The movie is called IMAGO.

Weekend Fun

First, I found out what was making my photos look foggy. The lens was smeared. I forgot that I let Sean take pictures with my camera, after he ate ice cream and cake at Avery's party.

Barb, Beth, Darlene, Darlene's Mom, and my mom headed to the Hobby Center to see Phantom of the Opera on Saturday. This was my fourth time to see it. It was really good!

Sunday we went to the beach. It was a let down after the beautiful sand and water of Florida, but we still had fun, especially Sean. He over came his fear of the waves and ran back and forth getting water in his bucket.
Here is Sean telling me to make a sand creation.
Then we headed to the League City YMCA pool. Even mom went down the slide.

Is Dave putting war paint on his face or sunscreen?

Happy Birthday Dad! Part II

I didn't make dad his birthday pie on his birthday, because we still had some of Barb's birthday cake around. But, since I believe in birthday month, I made dad his birthday pie just in time before the month is over.

The height of the meringue was so impressive, even my Babci would be proud. The inside on the other hand, tasted good, but never hardened up. It was more like a pudding.
I'M HOW OLD!!!!!
Meanwhile, I need to find out why my photos look so crappy. They have a frosted look. Maybe there is a 1970s setting I don't know about.

It didn't rain in Houston all summer, until...

we decide to put in a new driveway. Just after they finished pouring most of the concrete, it started raining. They quickly covered it with tarps. We are waiting to see how it looks underneath. Here is a look at the driveway before they poured. As they chopped up the old driveway...

Happy Birthday Avery!

I'm just a little late...Avery's party was two weeks ago at an inside jumping place. I took Sean on our first outing alone. Friends at the party wondered who let me have a child! Here is the birthday girl with Sean (Sorry, really bad photos. I think I had my camera on a weird setting.)There were great slides to bounce down but Sean was hesitant to go in. But, he improvised and used entry ramps as slides instead. Will he go in...I'll take a peek...Here's Ethan going down the big slide. Here's Amy and Sean. He loves Amy, at least he loves saying her name. When he plays with toys at grandma's house, half of the toys he picks up and says are Amy's. This is because I had explained to him that these were the toys me and Amy played with when we were little. (Amy, if you want to feel old, we've known each other 26 years this summer! Yikes!)Amy going down the slide.

Happy Late Fourth of July

The Pasta gang had a early birthday dinner for dad on the 4th of July. We decided on Thai food. Surprisingly most places were closed. Are they unAmerican for being closed, or are we unAmerican for wanting Thai food on the 4th? We ended up going mainstream Asian at PeiWei.

Then it was on to fireworks at our neighborhood park. At first, Sean did not want to go "Fireworks hurt me," he said. I asked if it hurt his nose. Then in a flash forward moment to Sean being a teenager, he looked at me and said "Uh, nooo. It hurts my ears." Translation: Aunt JoJo, you are stupid, why would fireworks hurt my nose? Duh! =)

Here are some pictures from the day. FYI...if people look cold in the pictures, it is an illusion, it was just windy. For those reading outside Houston, it has been a brutal summer. Mostly 100's during the day and very little rain. Yankee relatives, please send rain and cooler weather. (By cooler I mean 92!)

Florida Part V - The last day

Sean and his friends joined around the lazy river before the long ride home. Speaking of the ride home...we had five adults and Sean in dad's Honda Odyssey. We all were one happy family! It was a long trip made longer because I made a wrong turn in Pensacola, and we had to make a big detour to avoid construction near Baton Rouge. Beth was a good sport and kept Dave in line in the far back seat. Sean was really good. He slept, played with Darlene and watch a couple of movies.
