Thanksgiving Fun!

Sean spent the night Thanksgiving week to have some cooking and crafting fun. Day one was cooking orange sprinkled cookies and making turkey hand crafts.
Day 2 we made rice krispie treats and turkey place holders.

We even made a turkey costume for Sean's pet dinosaur.
Sean writing down what he is thankful for. You know he is intense in his thoughts. Look at the tongue.

Sean spends the night

Last weekend Sean spent the night in preparation of a day of fun! First was a scavenger's hunt for Eeyore's tail. Someone left clues all over the house to help Sean find the tail.

He found it!
Next was cutting practice. Sean had very intense concentration.
Then it was on to cooking, which Sean loves to do. We made a traditional Christmas cookie in our house, Peanut Butter Blossoms. We do most of the measuring and egg cracking as we sit on the floor of the kitchen. So we started calling the cookies "floor cookies." This was the first time Sean got to use the big mixer. Pouring things into the mixer while it was going was a little scary, but, he kept all of his fingers.
All day we watched the radar as Hurricane Lee hit Louisiana and watched as the rain inched its way closer into Texas. We practiced our rain dance, hoping it would help. Right at dusk we had a spritzle of rain. So we ran outside and did a rain dance for more to come. It didn't =(.

Before he went home all the Pasta's came over for a picnic in the living room complete with a movie, "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids."

Vacation!

At last...after a summer spent mostly inside studying, VACATION! Me and mom got up way too early and hit the road at 5:15 a.m. First stop, New Orleans to pick up Nancy and Stephanie.

Of course we had to take mouse on our trip. He enjoyed seeing the sites in N.O.

You know you are in N.O. when hundreds of guys pass you on the street in red dresses. It was for a charity run.
Next stop, one of my favorite places, Destin, Fl. We stayed at the place with the awesome lazy river again. This is my fourth time here.

Nancy and Steph at one of the yummy restaurants we ate at.
Pretty shots from around the area.
Mom and the mouse enjoy the hot tub on our balcony.
Mouse enjoys tubing.
After I found out that Steph's godmother was Kathy, I decided I had to step up and take her place. So in a very solemn ceremony in the lazy river complete with mom blowing bubbles, Nancy throwing flowers and a dunking, Steph became my godchild.

Mouse joined in the ceremony.
To top off the ceremony Steph received her own crafty flip flops. Kathy had us all make flip flops a few years ago on one of our vacations.
Nancy and Steph jump through the waterfall. This is the pool where a frog swam into my swim shirt and almost gave me a heart attack.
The last night, we went down one last time to the lazy river.

We get up early yet again to head home. We dropped Steph and Nancy off in Pensacola and me and mom hit the Hard Rock Casino in Biloxi. We were not big winners, so we had to head home. It was a great time!

Happy 4th!

We celebrated not only the 4th of July, but Barbara's and dad's birthdays.

Just in case we did not have any real fireworks because of the drought, I had promised Sean we would do paper fireworks.

For dad's birthday, we allowed him to make the cake. =)
Mom got dad a paddle to get pizza out of the oven.
Dave chased Sean with the pizza paddle.
Dad showing off his new youthful look.
It's always fun when Darlene is around.
Dad made 4th of July pudding, just like he did 34 years ago...
